Leaders of Harborside Medical Education Recognized by the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions
The principals of Harborside, a leading oncology publisher, congratulate senior staff of Harborside Medical Education (HSME) for being recognized with prestigious awards for their service to the healthcare continuing education (CE) community.
HUNTINGTON, N.Y., Jan. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- During the awards ceremony preceding the 44th Annual Conference of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions (the Alliance; January 23-26, 2019; National Harbor, Maryland), Karen Overstreet, EdD, RPh, FACEHP, CHCP, Vice President, Medical and Educational Affairs for HSME was honored by the Alliance Board of Directors with its highest award, the Distinguished Leadership and Service Award. The Board recognized Dr. Overstreet for her long-standing commitment to the Alliance, numerous contributions to the CE community, and outstanding volunteerism. The Alliance Board selected Dr. Overstreet for the award because she has:
- Demonstrated exemplary service, contributions, and active involvement in alignment with the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the Alliance
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing the profession of CE in the health professions
- Served as a role model for other volunteers through proactive involvement and participation that has encouraged and inspired others
Dr. Overstreet is a Distinguished Member and Fellow of the Alliance. She was elected to two terms on its Board of Directors, previously chaired its Annual Conference, and currently leads its Commission on Certification of Healthcare CPD Professionals.

Ms. Brody currently serves on the Alliance's Continuing Professional Development Provider/Supporter Interactions Special Interest Group and is the co-chair of its Speaking the Same Language initiative, which focuses on standardization of outcomes for the healthcare CE industry.
