Leading Research Video Publisher JoVE Announces Accelerated Worldwide Growth in 2014
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- JoVE announced today that 2014 was another record-breaking year of growth. Year over year sales for the leading video publisher for the STM industry grew 37% in 2014, laying the foundation for continued growth in 2015. Ending the year with close to 800 higher education and biotech institutional clients in 43 countries, the company’s user base increased 30% over 2013. The successful year was fueled by brisk sales across the two major product lines, introduction of new products, forays into new international markets and continued investment in sales, marketing, and new product development.
International market expansion
In response to rapidly escalating demand for JoVE products throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East, the company established two new subsidiaries in London, U.K. and Melbourne, Australia in 2014. Record increases in sales were achieved in Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and Korea. To increase its presence within these markets, JoVE invested in a range of innovative marketing programs, industry conferences and events. Over the next year, JoVE will continue to target global markets and to introduce an array of new collections for both the JoVE Journal and Science Education product lines.
JoVE Science Education (SE) video database debut and expansion
The JoVE Science Education video database product line, introduced late in 2013, gained broad market acceptance in 2014, firmly establishing it as a core product line, alongside the company’s flagship research-oriented JoVE Journal. Aimed specifically at basic laboratory education, JoVE SE extends JoVE market reach beyond research institutions to thousands of additional 4- and 2-year colleges.
In 2014, the production rate of JoVE SE was increased by 100% adding four new video collections to JoVE SE: Model Organisms II, Essentials of Neuroscience, Essentials of Developmental Biology and Essentials of Behavior. Each video collection was also translated into Chinese, Japanese, French and German to support international market access.
Strengthening the JoVE management team
To capitalize on market expansion opportunities, JoVE enhanced its highly skilled team by ramping up virtually every business function. The JoVE employee roster grew by 50% worldwide. The company also added seasoned talent to its management team, including a Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Acquisitions Editor.
Establishment of new operational units: Content Acquisition and Innovation Lab.
To help expand its video offerings, JoVE established a new operational unit, Content Acquisition, to collaborate with research leaders in numerous scientific disciplines. By year-end, the company had engaged in new content development spanning the disciplines of psychology, environmental science, earth science and clinical medicine.
A new JoVE Innovation Lab was created to focus on research, development and testing of new products. Two major new product offerings are expected to emerge from this effort in early 2015.
“The extraordinary growth of the past year is a testament to the vision of the founders and to the outstanding value JoVE solutions deliver to academic and corporate institutions around the world, “ stated Moshe Pritsker, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of JoVE. “Scientific research and education permeate every aspect of human life and our ability to effectively share research knowledge and accurately reproduce research findings is essential to our continued evolution”, Pritsker continued. “We are excited by the prospects for continued expansion and growth worldwide in the years to come”.
