After working in the field of Addiction Treatment for a number of years, Southern California Sunrise Recovery saw the need to treat patients with primary mental health conditions. This allows them to get to the root of the problem and help people deal with their primary psychological issues that can contribute to the development of addictions.

Recovery comes from managing your symptoms and adjusting your life to set yourself up for success. It’s not an easy road, but we can show you the way

The Southern California Sunrise Recovery Center has been providing Addiction Treatment in the city of Mission Viejo for over four years. But they’ve recently opened the doors to a new Orange County Mental Health Treatment Center that focusses primarily on Mental Health disorders.

The center’s owner, Michael Villareal saw the need to offer a different style of care to patients who struggle with the symptoms of Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bipolar, and Personality Disorders. He said, “a string of primary mental health cases reached out to us and it seemed like a disservice to ignore the needs of these people.” After working in the Addiction Treatment field for a number of years he noticed that a lot of his patients had a number of co-occurring disorders that had contributed to their development of an addiction to alcohol, prescription pills, or illegal substances.

Now Southern California Sunrise works to treat the root causes of these issues along with the symptoms that often include addiction. “When a person becomes chemically imbalance, when they know something’s not right, but don’t know why, it’s natural for them to turn to drugs and alcohol, to try and self-medicate, to self-soothe, and try to cope.” This coping mechanism funnels people with mental health disorders into the addiction treatment world, where they don’t always get the level of care that they require.

Michael took an interest in the types of psychological and psychiatric treatments available to people with Mental Health Disorders. Working with his clinical team of psychiatrists, therapists, and psychologists he was able to develop a program designed to give people with mental health disorders the tools to live happy self-actualized lives.

Southern California Sunrise Recovery Mental Health prides itself on developing individualized treatment plans they will work for their patients. Like an addiction, there is no panacea or cure-all for mental health disorders. Michael says, “recovery comes from managing your symptoms and adjusting your life to set yourself up for success. It’s not an easy road, but we can show you the way”.
