GAITHERSBURG, Md., Sept. 2, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Learning Undefeated, a non-profit committed to providing STEM education opportunities for underserved communities, today announced a new partnership with the Texas Education Agency that will create the first-ever Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory program.
The program will serve K-8 students and teachers throughout all twenty Texas educational regions for the 2020/21 school year, bringing cross-curricular engineering design challenges and a multisensory interactive career exploration experience for students.
Employing Learning Undefeated's Mobile eXploration Lab (MXLab), the Texas Mobile STEM Laboratory program utilizes custom-outfitted learning spaces built from trailers and shipping containers that travel from school to school. The country's largest mobile STEM lab for education, the double-expandible tractor trailer provides nearly 1,000 square feet of flexible classroom and laboratory space including touch-screen flat-panel televisions, internet, and more than one mile of CAT-5 cabling to enable state-of-the-art education. The program uses augmented reality and game-based learning along with in-classroom activities for students to make science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning accessible and fun. Led by innovation fields such as oil and gas, computing, and engineering, job growth in STEM careers significantly outpaces job growth in other Texas industries.

Focusing on rural schools and areas of high economic need, the mobile laboratory will travel to a new school each week, crossing the entire state each school year. Elementary and middle school students will be introduced to STEM through engaging and immersive lessons taught by professional science educators. TEA-approved curriculum and activities will dovetail with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) educational standards to build teacher capacity and integrate STEM concepts into the classroom early in students' educational experience.
