Learning.com Goes “Blue” to Stomp Out Cyberbullying with Month-Long Campaign
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) September 25, 2017 -- With cyberbullying becoming a growing concern for students, parents and educators, it is more important than ever for students to understand the importance of digital citizenship. To help prevent cyberbullying and work with educators to promote kindness online, employees of Portland-based education technology company, Learning.com, will participate in Blue Shirt Day® World Day of Bullying Prevention™ on October 2, part of National Bullying Prevention Month.
Cyberbullying, defined as bullying that takes place using cell phones, computers, tablets, social media sites, text messages, chat and websites, is on the rise around the world. On Blue Shirt Day® World Day of Bullying Prevention™, Learning.com joins numerous educational organizations who will come together and wear blue shirts in solidarity against bullying, cyberbullying and digital abuse in order to call attention to this global challenge.

Today, Learning.com released a short video featuring employees showcasing five easy-to-remember cyberbullying prevention tips that educators can share with their students. Throughout October, Learning.com encourages educators to share their own cyberbullying prevention tips via social media using the hashtag #BeKindOnline for a chance to win a limited-edition shirt. In addition, Learning.com is offering complimentary online safety lesson plans for grades K-8 to help parents and educators prepare their students with digital citizenship skills.
On October 12, Learning.com will host a webinar, “Keeping Your Students Safe Online: The Toledo Model.” Ideal for elementary and middle school educators and administrators who already have online safety programs or are in the beginning stages of developing one, the webinar will spotlight the success of the online safety program implemented at Toledo Public Schools, Ohio. Presented by Shannon Bischoff and Amy Graver, the district’s technology facilitators, the webinar will feature unique insights and best practices for bringing online safety programs to a school or district. Other highlights include how to determine the necessary elements for online safety instruction, choosing a complementary standards-aligned curriculum, overcoming challenges, measuring success and implementing improvements throughout the process.
