CHICAGO, April 3, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the demand for data science, ML and advanced analytics grows in businesses of all sizes, Data Lake product owners, CDOs and data engineers now represent some of the fastest growing positions, especially in small and medium-sized businesses. Data Lake as a service company, Lentiq, today announced new features to address the data needs of this growing market.
Lentiq has just ended the early access phase and is now moving towards general availability. Small and medium-sized clients are already using Lentiq for their data lake projects. Lentiq's micro-data lakes, or data pools, are smaller, interconnected, cloud-based data lakes that reduce complexity and maintenance requirements, increase agility, and reduce costs.
The company is developing a feature called LambdaBook Workflow Manager. This feature allows a data scientist or data engineer to automatically transform notebooks into executable Docker containers and run them as part of a workflow without the need for development work. Lentiq will announce further details and release date in the next weeks.
For larger organizations, by moving away from a centralized data repository, Lentiq moves data ownership & application stack management to the line of business (LOB). This increases agility and lowers time to market. At the same time, through the cross-cloud data & code sharing features Lentiq supports larger companies in their effort towards collaboration as well as standardization and governance.
"Lentiq has reinvented the concept of a Data Lake with their new architecture, which incorporates distributed instances of interconnected Data Pools," said Kirk Borne, Ph.D., Principal Data Scientist, Executive Advisor, Global Speaker, and top Industry Influencer. "The Data Pool is a micro-Data Lake, providing an isolated cloud-native, use-case specific environment for diverse teams of Data Scientists to perform their unique Data Science and Machine Learning tasks within an agile, private, secure, and yet still shareable data ecosystem. In this way, Lentiq has also reinvented data science innovation."
Dr. Borne will be co-hosting a webinar with Lentiq's Cristina Grosu on April 16th on "The Lentiq Data Pool as an Agile Insights Discovery Tool for Data Science Teams." Dr. Borne will draw on decades of data science experience at George Mason University, NASA and global enterprises to discuss big data fundamentals, data lake use cases and how a micro-data lake like the Lentiq Data Pool converges the best of data technologies for DataOps.
