NEW YORK, Nov. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Leopard Solutions Market Research releases a new infographic on the current state of gender and ethnic diversity in the legal industry. The infographic is a current snapshot as of 10/30/2020 on the state of diversity in the top 200 law firms in the US based on data from Firmscape, Leopard Solutions' law firm intelligence, and reporting tool. Leopard Solutions debuted its diversity tool in September 2020. For too long diversity was just a talking point for many law firms and legal talent professionals. While both recognize the need for diverse hires, there are not many benchmarking or recruitment tools in the market to move the needle towards achieving diversity goals. With the Mansfield Rule recruitment goals in its fourth iteration (https://www.diversitylab.com/mansfield-rule-4-0/), more top firms participating, and corporations supporting diversity; accurate and current data is the missing link for firms, recruiters, and corporations to measure and benchmark strategic diversity growth measures.
Even though many organizations in the legal industry publish benefits of diversity for the firm, most reports reference older data. A recent ABA diversity and inclusion committee newsletter written by David O'Conner referenced a 2019 study conducted in 2018 that of the firms surveyed 35.4% of the attorneys were women, 16.1% were racially or ethnically diverse, and only 8.08% were women of color. The Leopard Solutions current snapshot reports the same with one difference, 36% of attorneys at the top 200 firms are women, an increase of one percent in two years. "Peter Drucker said 'If you can't measure it, you can't improve it.' It is an old business axiom that we believe to be true, especially today. The measure and reporting of [diversity] is an important first step in improving diversity numbers. We want to shine a light on what is and offer solutions to move to what can be - a more equitable legal industry." Laura Leopard, CEO, Leopard Solutions.
