Less Than a Month Left to Register for International Conference on Taxpayer Rights

WASHINGTON, April 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Taxpayer Advocate of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service is bringing together government officials, scholars and practitioners from around the world for the fourth International Conference on Taxpayer Rights, May 23-24, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hosted by the University of Minnesota Law School, the conference will explore the role of taxpayer rights in the digital age and the implications of the expanding digital environment for transparency, certainty and privacy in tax administration.

The registration deadline is near. Tax practitioners, lawyers and anyone interested in protecting taxpayers on a global scale are encouraged to register now through May 15, 2019. The National Taxpayer Advocate recorded a short video discussing the conference agenda.

A FOCUS ON TAXPAYER RIGHTS IN THE DIGITAL AGE

The theme of this year's conference is Taxpayer Rights in the Digital Age: Implications for Transparency, Certainty, and Privacy. For two days, an international panel of experts from 16 countries will discuss topics ranging from big data and automation to artificial intelligence and data mining, and how they impact the taxpayer. Panels include:

• Big Data and Taxpayer Privacy
• Other Challenges to Tax Administration in the Digital Age
• The Impact of the Digital Economy and Big Data on Vulnerable Taxpayer Populations
• Taxpayer Rights in the Digital Age: Reflections and Best Practices

The conference will also give attendees the opportunity to discuss the reasons for – and challenges of – adopting and implementing a Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TBOR) or taxpayer charter. The conference also will explore the role of tax administration in promoting fairness and effectiveness in the tax system.

The International Conference on Taxpayer Rights provides attendees the opportunity to network with global tax administration professionals.
