Let the Sun Shine - Window Cleaning Tips from The Maids
Omaha, Neb (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- The days are getting longer, and the sunshine is becoming more abundant, so now is a great time to set aside an afternoon to clean windows and let that sunshine back into your home. Cleaning experts from The Maids offer the following tips to help you get your windows sparkling and streak-free.
Protect floors. If working on the inside of windows be sure to lay down a drop cloth to protect carpet or flooring before starting.
Ditch the bottled cleaners. Start by mixing up a solution of warm water and a squirt of dish soap. Don’t use too much – a drop or two per gallon will do the trick.
Grab a sponge. Soak it in your soapy solution and rub down window panes from left to right, making sure to pay attention to the corners where dirt can hide.
Get the corners. Take a damp cloth and be sure to wipe the window seals and corners to remove built up dirt and grime. Use a toothbrush to get into the hard to reach corners.
Use a squeegee. Pull it down the pane from top to bottom. After each stroke, be sure to clean the blade with a rag so it doesn’t leave streaks. Remove any streaks with a dry cloth.
Choose a cloudy day. You will get the best results if you wash windows on a cloudy day because sunlight dries the glass too quickly, causing it to streak.
