Xulon Press presents an inspiring memoir showing the gratefulness and immense faith of the underprivileged living in Haiti.
WESTMINSTER, Colo., June 1, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Author Kalah K Pointer provides an impactful lesson about being grateful for simplicities in The Unseen of Haiti ($13.99, paperback, 9781662878558; $5.99, e-book, 9781662878565).
When Pointer was a teenager, she longed to go on a mission trip away from the United States. She explains that God led her to Cap-Haiti and felt that He was going to open her eyes to see and experience the wealth disparities in Haiti that she had never witnessed in America. As expected, her Haiti mission trips were a firsthand look of the heartache of Haitians and their livelihood, trying to provide for their families to ensure all are living healthy and safe lives. Pointer believes that God wanted to use her to tell the story of the Haitians. She took those experiences and penned this compelling book for all readers to learn about the beautiful country of Haiti and the culture of its people.
Through her book, Pointer aims to reach out to Americans and other privileged countries to see that the people of Haiti are not only neighbors, but they are striving to live decent. She admired the Haitian's ability to show gratitude for simplicities that so many living outside of that country take for granted. Pointer also wants readers to see the many ways in which God can do impossible things, while simultaneously immersing others in the darkest of places.
"In traveling back and forth from Haiti, I would return to America feeling so broken and remorseful for taking my daily luxuries and necessities for granted," said Pointer. "I felt motivated to do something meaningful for my brothers and sisters in Christ in Haiti. I believe that God was tugging on my heart when I came back from Haiti, guiding me to write a book about my experiences there."
Kalah Pointer was born in St. Louis, Missouri and currently resides in Colorado with her family. She holds a bachelor's degree in Family Ministry from Ozark Christian College. Pointer continued her studies in Clinical counseling at Colorado Christian University. She has a background in working with children and proudly served children and young adolescents in educational settings for more than six years. In addition to her work with children in educational (school and after-school program) settings, Pointer was Involved in homeless ministries and has also sponsored children as part of Compassion International, a non-profit organization in Haiti. Pointer enjoys living life to the fullest, including visits to coffee shops where she read books. She also loves to take photos of nature, spending time in the mountains and traveling around the world viewing different sceneries.
