Linda McKinnon, REALTOR® with Prudential PenFed Realty Receives Local Community Award
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- Prudential PenFed Realty’s Elkton office is pleased to recognize Linda McKinnon of its Elkton, Md. office for her community service efforts. On July 18, during the annual Cecil County Board of Realtors (CCBOR) Awards program, McKinnon was honored when she received the Board’s Community Service Award. This award is given to a REALTOR® with an outstanding record of community service.
“Linda is a phenomenal volunteer and an outstanding real estate agent. We are so proud of Linda's dedication to the projects she works on and for all of the time and energy she has spent helping others less fortunate. McKinnon is actively involved with several community organizations benefiting children and veterans and their families. She also serves on the Board of the West Cecil Health Center in addition to the following community service and clubs:
•Rising Sun Business Association.
•Junior Achievement for Cecil and Howard Counties
•Sunday school teacher and bible school teacher for Rosebank Methodist Church
•Fairy Tale Ball Committee for Knights of Columbus
•St. James Church Bazaar Committee
•Board of Directors for West Cecil Health in Conowingo
•Chairman for Women in Operations for Kraft Foods
McKinnon’s charitable activities include:
•1996 – 2012: Raised money and collected toys for military families that are struggling financially over the holidays while one or both parents are overseas, Donations were delivered to Military Distributors Center throughout Norfolk, Va.
•2002 & 2004: Volunteered for Junior Achievement to be a positive role model for the workforce of tomorrow educating children in elementary schools in both Cecil and Howard counties.
•2005 – 2012: Donated and supported the Stockings for Soldiers campaign to collect items to be included in holiday stockings that were delivered to soldiers deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.
•2012: Chaired a CCBOR committee that collected personal items and food snacks for soldiers serving in Afghanistan. The charity work helped to raise moral, and show support for all they are doing to protect our country.
•2007, 2009, 20010, 2012: Supported one of her clients by helping to plan a fundraiser to raise money for their child with cerebral palsy. The funds were needed to help finance special medical support, equipment, and therapy so she can function in a normal capacity with other children. This charity was for “Fields of Faith.”
•2004 – 2013: Helped organize yard sales, auction off crab baskets, and car shows for the Elkton Prudential PenFed Realty office. The charity work raised money for The Sunshine Kids; and organization dedicated to helping children with cancer.
McKinnon also participated on a committee to sponsor the “Fairy Tale Ball” sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to benefit the Immaculate Conception Parish Outreach Program giving assistance with food and funds for shelter, utilities, fuel and medicine to families in need. The Fair Tale Ball raised over $10,000 by decorating a hall like a castle where children could dress in their most famous fairy tale costume. They danced with their parents, built castles for which they were judged, had snacks, played games and did crafts.
“I am so honored to have received this award. It is a wonderful feeling to help others. In ordinary life we don't realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that gratitude in life is richer than anything,” said McKinnon.
