Litner + Deganian Announces 2019 Second Annual $2,500 Scholarship Program
Litner + Deganian, P.C., is offering a $2,500 scholarship to help the next generation of college students realize their educational goals.
ATLANTA, Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Litner + Deganian, P.C., a personal injury law firm that represents those injured in car accidents, truck crashes, or other incidents caused by the mistakes or negligence of others, recently announced its second annual $2,500 scholarship to help the next generation of college students realize their educational and professional goals.
"The expense of an education after high school is hard for many students to manage. We want to help make it possible for all students—no matter their financial situation—to reach their full potential through college or graduate studies," said Steve Litner, a founding partner at Litner + Deganian.
The $2,500 scholarship will go to the winner of a contest to create an original video urging people to stop driving while distracted. In 2018, Georgia passed a hands-free driving law, making it illegal to hold or support a phone while talking, texting, or using social media apps. However, it's clear to most of us that many drivers are still choosing to ignore the law—putting themselves and others at risk. Litner + Deganian's experience representing the victims of car, truck, and motorcycle crashes involving distracted drivers has made them acutely aware of the dangers associated with distracted driving.
"Despite Georgia's new hands-free driving law, we still see people talking, texting, or using apps nearly every day on the road," Litner added. "How do we help people finally stop this dangerous activity? What ideas, tactics, or technologies can get people to finally put away their phones?"
Contest participants will create a short video, no longer than 60 seconds, to address some of these questions and urge drivers to focus when behind the wheel. Litner + Deganian attorneys and their designees will review the submissions, determining the winner based on the creativity and originality of the video, the quality of information sources, and the applicant's potential for academic success.
Litner + Deganian plans to use the winning video and finalist videos to help educate the public about the dangers of distracted driving. The contest is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are attending or plan to attend an accredited U.S. college or university in the fall 2019 semester. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2019. Litner + Deganian will select a winner by early May.
