A new house is a place to make memories, to find stability and to create space for building community.
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) October 21, 2020
Every year brings unique challenges and obstacles to overcome, however 2020 has provided more challenges than normal for families across America, as they work to address the impacts of Covid-19, engage in discussions around equality and diversity, and get ready to navigate an election year. For families without a stable place to live, those challenges can feel even greater. That’s why MaintenX International stepped in to sponsor their second Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties home for the year and help the Massey family move into a safe space that they can call their own.
“Habitat for Humanity provides so much more than a physical space for families to live,” said Bill Schaphorst, MaintenX’s VP of Business Development. “A new house is a place to make memories, to find stability and to create space for building community.”
The Massey family received the keys to their forever-home during a beautiful dedication ceremony, with family, friends and new neighbors by their side to celebrate. Two other families in the neighborhood also had their dedication ceremonies on the same day, allowing them to all help celebrate each other and their new success of home ownership.
MaintenX’s sponsorship not only helped Chileta Massey become a homeowner during the pandemic, but also helped Habitat for Humanity fully utilize the grants available to them. This is the third home that MaintenX has sponsored to help a local family find a safe, secure place to live.
Earlier this year, MaintenX participated in another Habitat for Humanity home build, and offered plumbing, HVAC, and roofing assistance, in addition to standard volunteer activities like framing, painting, and window installation. Additionally, during summer 2019, MaintenX team members celebrated their hard work at the home dedication of a of a five-bed, two-bath Habitat for Humanity home that went from vision to reality thanks to the record-setting 1,000 volunteer hours provided by team MaintenX.
“After twice seeing the life-changing impact a home can have on a family, we knew we couldn’t wait to sponsor another Habitat for Humanity house,” said Schaphorst. “We are so glad to be able to make the dream of homeownership come true for Chileta and her three children.”
