Local Foundation Awards $20,000 in Scholarships to Tennessee High School Students
NASHVILLE (PRWEB) June 05, 2018 -- As part of its commitment to advancing education, Advance Financial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Nashville-based fintech company Advance Financial, gave $1,000 scholarship awards to 20 outstanding Tennessee high school students at its 4th annual Advancing Education Scholarship Banquet. Student applications were judged on GPA, community involvement and perseverance over hardships in their lives.
The 2018 scholarship recipients, including each student’s hometown and selected college, are:

9. Dalton Bolgeo (Memphis) – Christian Brothers University
10. Alex Henderson (Knoxville) – University of Tennessee, Knoxville
11. Angela Mattera (Knoxville) – Tennessee Tech University
12. Robert Daniel (Franklin) – Tennessee Tech University
13. Tessa Baker (Chattanooga) – University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

Now in its fourth year, the program set a record in 2018 for number of donations and student applications. 354 students applied, and Advance Financial collected and matched nearly $34,000 from donors, employees and friends of the organization.
“We’re thrilled to grow our scholarship program and provide additional financial support to students in their journey of higher education,” added Johnson. “We want to help each step along the way as they grow and succeed.”
Through the Advance Financial Foundation, the company’s educational initiatives are focused on improving the quality of education for preschool, grade school and high school students. Since the Foundation’s scholarship program began in 2015, the company has awarded more than $60,000 to high school graduates. The Foundation has also given more than $8,900 to The Patriot Foundation, an organization that provides scholarships to the children of wounded or fallen soldiers.
