Local Morristown Doctor Jonathan Baskin Helps Patient with Severe Neck Pain
Morristown, NJ (PRWEB) February 20, 2015 -- For Adele Oremus, the onset of neck pain 8 years ago began an odyssey of medical evaluations. She grew particularly concerned when her symptoms grew to include burning pain within her right arm and hand, leaving her uncomfortable and sometimes unable to work. An MRI of her neck revealed a herniated disc as the basis for her complaint, but a series of specialists did not agree on the proper course of action; some recommended conservative treatment, and others surgical intervention. Of those who suggested surgery, there was disagreement as to which procedure would best serve her needs. Frightened about what could happen if she chose the wrong surgeon to take care of her, she struggled with progressively worsening pain. And then, she met Atlantic Neurosurgical Specialists (ANS) neurosurgeon Dr. Jonathan Baskin.
“Dr. Baskin came highly recommended to me from a few different specialists, all of them not knowing one another. He had a great reputation in the field and I wanted to see what all of the hype was about. When I met him, I couldn’t believe the compassion he had for my situation. He has an amazing bedside manner, and I immediately knew that I had found the surgeon for me.”
Adele scheduled her surgery in August 2013, and underwent a procedure to decompress an impinged nerve by removing the herniated disc. The procedure was directed from the front of her neck (anterior cervical microdiscectomy), and also involved placing a bone graft that was held in position by a small metal plate with screws (fusion). She awoke from surgery “feeling like a million bucks,” and was able to return home within 24 hours of her surgery. After years of discomfort, she was delighted to be able to resume “life as normal.” “It is all because of Dr. Baskin" says Adele. “ I was actually sad when we had our last post-op visit because he was such an amazing doctor. I wish he could be my general practitioner. I will be forever thankful, and fond of Dr. Baskin. I am now completely pain-free.”
