Locals Karen and Don Gotimer Launch Pet Wants Northern Westchester
Katonah, NY (PRWEB) April 25, 2017 -- Karen and Don Gotimer are pleased to announce the launch of their new, local, high-quality pet food business, Pet Wants of Northern Westchester.
Pet Wants’ carefully developed proprietary pet food is slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, high-quality ingredients once per month, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. Pet Wants Northern Westchester delivers to North Salem, Lewisboro, Mt. Kisco, Bedford, Armonk, Rye, Mamaroneck and the surrounding areas in New York as well as Ridgefield and Greenwich Connecticut. The Gotimers will be at the Bedford Hills Farmers Market, at the train station, through June with many of their products as well as free samples.
“Don and I wanted to embark on a business together, but we wanted it to be something we would enjoy and we didn’t want to start from scratch. When we came across Pet Wants, it just felt right. Doing something with pet parents and their pets seemed perfect for us and we thought Pet Wants was well suited to this community where there are lots of people who are very concerned about what they feed their pets,” Karen said.
Karen and Don have two rescue dogs – a 13-year-old boxer/terrier mix named Avery and a 3-year-old Shih Tzu Mix named Deuce. When Avery, a notoriously fussy eater, liked the Pet Wants food, the Gotimers were sold.
“When we got a sample and I gave her some to try, she immediately ate it. It was almost like that old commercial, ‘Mikey likes it!’ Avery liked it, so we knew it was something special. It has the dog seal of approval,” Karen joked.
In addition to being made fresh monthly, Pet Wants only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice and other ingredients available. There’s no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes, which makes the food great for animals with allergies. Pet Wants Northern Westchester – which offers multiple blends of dog food and cat food – also offers natural flea & tick Spray, mosquito repellant, healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax and house made treats, including Beef Jerky and Peanut Butter Sweet Potato snacks.
For the Gotimers, the power of Pet Wants is about more than the food and the products – it’s about developing relationships with pet families and having a community of concerned individuals to go to with customer questions, including Pet Wants’ nutritionist.
“Having that network is important because it means, if our customers have questions or concerns, we have the entire Pet Wants family to consult with in order to come up with an answer or solution. We’re not veterinarians, but we also know, in many cases, having the right food can make a big difference. This kind of personal attention is not available from other pet food companies.” Karen said.
Prior to opening Pet Wants, Don retired from his career as the owner of a computer consulting firm. Karen also owns an educational publishing business. Opening Pet Wants was partially inspired by Karen’s mom.
“My mom, who loved animals as much as we do, left a bit of insurance money to me when she passed away and I knew I wanted to use it for something special to honor her memory. When I learned about Pet Wants I knew I had found the right thing, so we used it to launch the business. I know she’d be proud. We actually named our LLC Anna’s Animals after my mom,” Karen said. “Everything has just come together and fallen into place. It’s like Pet Wants was supposed to happen for us.”
Pet Wants originally launched in Cincinnati in 2010. Owned by Michele Hobbs, the business was built to provide proprietary crafted, fresh, slow-cooked, high-quality pet food delivered to customers through a retail store and a convenient home-delivery service. Hobbs, now the company founder, turned the business into a franchise in 2015 with the help of Franchise Funding Group.

About Pet Wants: Pet Wants was started by Michele Hobbs out of love for her pets and frustration. Veterinarians were unable to help relieve her dog’s painful skin allergies. After doing much research, Michele discovered the national dog food brand she trusted was not fresh and lacked sufficient nutrition... and when pet food sits in warehouses and store shelves for months and months… it loses even more nutritional value. She was committed to developing a better solution for all dogs and cats. Their food is exclusively crafted… fresh, healthy, slow-cooked and high-quality with no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products. They source only the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice, and other ingredients. Fresh ingredients make for better food… and better health for pets. And since they never use corn, wheat, soy or dyes, the common pet health problems associated with these ingredients are no longer worries. Their fresh food is conveniently delivered to the customer within weeks of production, not months. Roughly half of Pet Wants products are sold through their store and half through their convenient, home-delivery program. You can learn more at http://www.PetWants.com.
