Los Angeles (PRWEB) November 20, 2013 -- Long Beach Indie along with BLU Educational Foundation (BLU) and Team Diesel Productions will host an advance screening of Daniel E. Walker's Sol Brothers, a compelling documentary that follows the transformation of 33 young men at a revolutionary college prep camp. The event will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Downtown Independent Theater in Los Angeles. The screening of Sol Brothers marks the official announcement of Long Beach Indie, an international film festival, conference, and artist summit coming to the Cinemark at the Pike Theaters and the Long Beach Convention Center August 27 – 31, 2014.
Celebrating global diversity through film and leveraging the power of emergent innovators in film, television, and digital media, Long Beach Indie will showcase more than 200 films from the U.S. and abroad. Starting with Sol Brothers, festival organizers will screen humorous and thought-provoking films throughout the Los Angeles area leading up to the five-day festival.
“Sol Brothers is a film about a truly unique experience and yet it speaks to our universal need to confront our fears as we all reach for purpose, direction, and freedom”, said Dr. Daniel E. Walker, a research associate at the University of Southern California and the film’s writer/director. “The subjects are naïve and yet complex, flawed and yet truly beautiful. They all have their own specific story and yet their collective struggles and triumphs still provide fuel for our common desire to be inspired by those who succeed beyond expectations”.
