Lorna Phillipson Announces Run for NJ Assembly
Spring Lake, NJ (PRWEB) July 21, 2015 -- Lorna Papsdorf Phillipson announced Monday morning that she will run this year for the New Jersey Assembly 30th Legislative District. She received the backing of Vin Gopal, Monmouth County Democratic Chairman, and Wyatt Earp, Ocean County Chairman. The 30th LD was restructured in 2011 to include towns within Monmouth and Ocean counties. The Assembly vacancy was created when Jimmy Esposito became the Democratic Candidate for Ocean County Freeholder last Tuesday, July 14.
Ms. Phillipson is a business leadership and strategy consultant to technology startups, a former bank trading executive, and was an adjunct professor in banking and finance at New York University. She was raised in Sea Girt and is currently living in Spring Lake Heights. Ms. Phillipson attended Manasquan High School, Montclair State University, and the Wharton Aresty Institute.
Lorna Phillipson says she is prepared to “fight for the residents of District 30, the County and the State of New Jersey. I look forward to presenting legislation for better job opportunities, better pay, improved infrastructure, and more accountability in government. My priority is economic growth to help NJ.”
Over the years, Ms. Phillipson have been an advocate for income equality, social justice, arts and education, animal and child welfare, reproductive rights, the environment, food safety, and town planning.
She is a past chair and speaker coordinator for the Commonwealth Club of Silicon Valley public forum and was a committee member for the inaugural Wharton Club DC Innovation Conference. In recent years, Lorna Phillipson has developed volunteer programs within her companies to contribute time and money for local food banks, a cooking competition to benefit a job training center, literacy and science tutoring at local schools, disaster recovery training, and pet rescues.
The Phillipson2015 campaign joins another 30th LD Assembly candidate, Jim Keady. Last year, Gov. Christie famously told Keady to “sit down and shut up” at a Hurricane Sandy event where Keady challenged the governor to “Finish the Job”(1). Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
