Louisville Historic Tours Announces Grand Reopening of their Guided Old Louisville Walking Tours
Starting this week, Louisville Historic Tours, which The New York Times recommends as the first thing to do during a visitor's "36 Hours in Louisville," will resume guided architecture and ghost walking tours three times a day, seven days a week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The oldest and most-well known walking tour company in Old Louisville, Kentucky announced this week that they are back to business while observing social distancing protocols. Taking advantage of the fact that the tours are completely outside with ample space even for large groups, Louisville Historic Tours has become inundated with people looking for informative guided walks.
"The moment we announced our reopening we received a huge influx in tour reservations. People on lock down are eager for things to do while staying safe. Our guided walks of historic Old Louisville are a great option for those looking for outdoor activities that are both educational and fun. We conform to CDC and local guidelines, but it hasn't changed the tour experience much from how we normally do things," says Dominé, who has been guiding tours since 2004. He is the owner of Louisville Historic Tours, which strives to promote the Old Louisville neighborhood and its grand Victorian architecture and history. Dominé is also a local author whose books have put Old Louisville in the national spotlight.
"Our tours have always been popular, and while we expected to get back to normal volumes quickly, I didn't anticipate the current outpouring of interest. It's been amazing," says Dominé.
Starting the week of June 29th, anyone looking to discover Old Louisville and hear the stories popularized in Dominé's books can purchase tickets to one of the three daily Old Louisville walking tours. Tours are offered seven days a week through November 15, with ticket prices ranging from $20-$25. Guided walks begin at 11AM and 1PM for the Victorian architecture and lore tours, while 7:30PM tours highlight haunted mansions and spooky history in Old Louisville. Although he has several guides who help him, Dominé shows up to guide the tours himself when possible.
Popular sights on the tours include Millionaires Row, the Pink Palace, the Witches' Tree, St. James Court, and a Fourth Street mansion that is the subject of Dominé's latest project, a true-crime book about the infamous Jamie Carroll murder in Old Louisville.
