RIND Snacks, makers of nutritious whole fruit snacks, is excited to announce the launch of Love is RIND – a new campaign dedicated to addressing issues of childhood hunger and nutrition insecurity. Through Love is RIND, the company provides regular weekly donations to public school children in underprivileged communities. The program helps nourish both bodies and minds by providing better-for-you fruit snacks along with fun, educational information that underscores the importance of healthy snack habits starting at an early age.
Nutrition insecurity is a real problem for America’s youth. 1 in 6 American children do not know where their next meal is coming from and too often when that food arrives, it is highly processed and lacking in substantive nutrition. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many schools across the country remain closed, leaving vulnerable students who rely on school meals at risk of not receiving adequate food options. Love is RIND has partnered with local organizations, food banks and schools to donate its snacks to children on Fridays as a way to help bridge weekend food needs for kids and their families.
“One of the most important and impactful contributions we can have as a food brand is educating children on the importance of nutritious and clean snacking,” says Matt Weiss, Founder & CEO of RIND Snacks. “Swapping processed and sugary fruit snacks with nutrient-packed whole fruit slices provides kids exactly the kind of clean energy to nourish both body and mind.”
The program officially launched on September 25th, in partnership with the Baltimore Hunger Project and the D.C. Food Project, and has occurred each week at schools throughout the mid-Atlantic. Love is RIND will be adopting partner schools in other cities and will be making weekly distributions of thousands of its fruit snacks throughout 2021. This allows RIND to build meaningful relationships with the communities where its products are sold and create enduring and healthy change.
