RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Just in time for Halloween, purveyors of the petrifying, Lulu.com, have once again put the "boo" in books with the release of their 4th annual Share Your Scare Anthology.
Since 2020 hasn't been terrifying enough, the sadists at Lulu Press held their fourth annual Share Your Scare contest and dared any indie authors brave enough to submit a short story to rival all of the other frightening things already happening this year.
"I tried to tell them, this year has already been too scary, don't do it. I mean, everything going on in the world and then Home Depot starts selling 12-foot skeletons...and now this?" Quivered VP of marketing, Matt Briel. "But did they listen to me? Does anyone ever listen to me?"
"No," responded multiple Lulu employees when asked for comment.
The insouciant team at Lulu moved forward with their contest to tremendous effect, receiving over 200 horrifying entries during the 22-day submission period. Lulu upped the ante this year with the addition of two new categories: Freeform works, which include any submission of 250 words or less that can range in format from a sentence, a poem, cartoon or line of dialogue and Campfire stories which are geared specifically to younger readers.
"Usually the only time I feel afraid at work now is when I can't remember how many days in a row I've been wearing the same clothes or when Matt's zoom background is his bathroom, but judging Share Your Scare was right up there," commented Content Marketing Manager, Paul Hobday, as he completed a sage ritual in his home office. "We had to expense night lights for the whole team."
A small price to pay in exchange for the opportunity to strike fear in the hearts of readers everywhere. The winners have been announced on Lulu's social media channels (follow, if you dare) and are featured along with a bio on Lulu's Horror Landing page.
