With its superb performance and sustainable appliance ownership model, the company aims to turn the tables on traditional appliance manufacturers. It's available on Kickstarter for the early-bird price of £250 (retail: £460).
Lupe Pure Cordless' patented suction intensifier technology allows for up to an hour on one charge, almost double the useful suction compared to leading brands. By focusing on the essentials of power and efficiency, the machine delivers on three key elements of cordless vacuuming: unparalleled suction power, a long run time, and the ability to clean all surfaces. Its dual stage cyclonic system and HEPA filtration captures 99.97% of fine dust and allergens.
"What's the point in having a 'small portable' cordless vacuum if it barely gets the job done?" said Lupe co-founder Lucas Horne. Lupe's powerful motorised agitator is for cleaning hair and deep-down dirt, while its dynamic front agitator collects large debris without wasting suction. The Patented Suction Intensifier boosts dust pick-up performance across all surfaces.
Instead of using multiple complicated heads, Lupe uses one unique 3-in-1 flexible head for all floor types to make the vacuuming process simpler. It is light-weight at only 4.2 kgs and has a 2-metre long reach, a bagless 1 liter holding container, and a 260mm wide head that allows for quicker cleaning. At the click of a button it can be converted into a fully portable handheld offering outstanding up high reach.
The battery can be charged on the machine with no dock, or taken out and charged discreetly while the machine is stowed away in a cupboard. The Pure Cordless has 9 Murata (formerly Sony) high drain, high capacity lithium ion cells. The battery pack is fitted with a fully featured protection board to monitor the health of the battery, communicate with the control system in the Pure Cordless to always ensure optimum performance The LEDs on the front communicate accurate charge capacity remaining.
50% of small domestic appliances taken to waste processing in the European Union are from vacuum cleaners. This is such a large issue partly because many leading companies launch new products year after year, which drives perfectly repairable products to the waste. The ethos of Lupe is to design products for the long term through offering easy service and upgradability; to that end, they are offering all Kickstarter backers a special 7-year warranty and will offer retail customers 2 year warranty (extended to 3 years on registration).
Lupe co-founder Lucas Horne met Aerospace Engineer Pablo Montero on their first day working at Dyson. They helped deliver a technology over 40 times better than legacy Dyson products at the time and saw the biggest single jump the company ever had. They personally examined dust collected from hundreds of users from around the world over many months to create the final product.
Horne and Montero eventually came back together to address the issues of underperforming vacuums - Lupe Technology was born.
