I do my best to provide opportunities to people of all backgrounds because I wouldn’t be here today if someone else hadn’t done the same for my family.
ROCKVILLE, Md. (PRWEB) April 22, 2021
Lurn, Inc., the transformational home for entrepreneurs, proudly announced that founder and CEO Anik Singal is a Washington Business Journal Diversity in Business Award honoree.
“As a first-generation American, this award means the world to me,” said Mr. Singal. “I do my best to provide opportunities to people of all backgrounds because I wouldn’t be here today if someone else hadn’t done the same for my family.”
The 14th annual program celebrates diversity and inclusion in the workforce and honors inspiring business leaders of color in Greater Washington. Selected from over 200 nominations, Anik is among a strong group of 25 exceptional individuals that have exhibited outstanding performance both professionally and in their community.
Since founding Lurn, Singal has built an education company that’s both empowered entrepreneurs all around the world and provided job opportunities for a diverse group of people. Despite a challenging 2020, he tripled the company’s revenue, kept everyone employed, and created even more jobs.
Throughout this growth, Anik has maintained a fun entrepreneurial work environment that empowers everyone to take on challenging projects, share new ideas, and make decisions on their own.
He has also been dedicated to giving back to those in need. Anik raised over $50,000 for entrepreneurs who were impacted by COVID-19, and he maintains the Singal Foundation, a foundation dedicated to building quality schools in India.
Honorees were nominated by Washington Business Journal readers and chosen by a panel of judges that includes alumni of the program and editorial staff.
The honorees will be celebrated during a virtual awards ceremony on March 18.
