Magnet Schools of America and Teaching Channel Join Forces to Accelerate Professional Development
New partnership aims to provide accessible and applicable professional development opportunities to magnet school educators.
EAGAN, Minn., March 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Magnet Schools of America and Teaching Channel are partnering to offer high quality, accessible, and applicable professional development to teachers in more than 4,000 magnet schools across the United States.
Magnet Schools offer the single largest form of public school "choice," and are visionary, innovative and open to all students regardless of zip code. With 4,340 schools educating 3.5 million+ students nationwide, each Magnet School typically focuses on individually themed curricula.
"The values of Magnet Schools of America dovetail perfectly with those of Teaching Channel," said Guy Harrington, President and CEO of Teaching Channel. "Most K-12 teachers work alone in their classrooms, so they rarely have the time or the opportunity to see others teach. Teaching Channel's high-quality, professional videos of teachers in action improve teacher effectiveness — and student success — by exposing educators to methods they may not have tried or even imagined in their own teaching," Harrington continues.
By offering Teaching Chanel Plus, a customizable technology platform, Magnet Schools of America is providing the ability for educators to be exposed to best-in-class teaching styles, theme-based education, and skills to boost their individual performance through uploaded videos and online instructional coaching from school colleagues and leaders. In addition, video content can be curated to meet specific growth areas for teachers. These unique, industry-leading professional development features result in improved teaching and student success. In addition, Teaching Channel will fund an annual scholarship to Magnet Schools of America for Professional Development opportunities.
Todd Mann, Executive Director of Magnet Schools of America states, "Magnet Schools of America strives to provide technology-rich solutions for the magnet community." Mann continues, "Establishing this partnership with Teaching Channel advances this goal while supporting the needs of the magnet community, teachers and students alike."
