NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "The World Premiere First Ever Double Magnificent Intergalactic MINIATURE Halloween Parade" will take place this year replacing the annual New York Village Halloween Parade, which has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. The world premiere of this never before realized Miniature Parade will take place online. In celebration of the holiday, the Empire State Building will shine in its world-famous tower lights in dynamic Halloween colors with witches and ghosts in the mast, casting a spooky glow over New York City.
"With the cancellation of the Parade, we want to ensure that the City remains safe on Halloween night in these difficult times, while giving New Yorkers a special, artistic Halloween treat. Although we will not see the Giant Puppets of years past, the artistic creations of multiple artists will delight thousands of New Yorkers and folks around the world in a MOVIE parade this Halloween," said Jeanne Fleming, Artistic & Producing Director, New York's Village Halloween Parade.
This year, produced by New York's Village Halloween Parade, the first online parade event will be hosted by MacArthur Genius and Master Puppeteer, Basil Twist's famous Giant Spider, Zohra, and will feature the mask and puppet work of 30 artists from the history of New York's Village Halloween Parade.
The puppets will be displayed against a moving "cranky" image of NYC and will walk past a fantasy rendering of NYC's iconic buildings from The World Trade Center to Harlem, with no real life restrictions to the route! This 30 foot long image has been created by Broadway Set Designer and Painter, Richard Prouse. After filming, the puppets will be a part of a special exhibition in 2021.
A link to the video will be posted on the VHP website on Halloween Day. Look at the website http://www.halloween-nyc.com.
"The NASDAQ and Reuters Billboards in Times Square will feature "'Til We Meet Again…" a display of photos from past Halloween Parades all day on Halloween. LinkNYC will also run "Til We Meet Again" photos of past parades in all 1,800 screens throughout the City.
"Although we are going from the Giant Puppets of yesteryear to these Tiny creations, we will go even larger than life with the Times Square billboards for New Yorkers to enjoy. We are also thrilled to be able to work with and employ dozens of creative theatre artists to produce this unique evening," added Jeanne Fleming.
"The creations are original and compelling and presented in a video that will last about 10 minutes." Each character will be showcased for about 15 seconds and the soundtrack will feature a diverse selection of 38 different sounds of the Parade from New Orleans Jazz, to Balkan, to West Indian Steel Drums, Haitian RaRa and Brazilian Samba.
"We are also thrilled that the Empire State Building will be in the spooky spirit by displaying Halloween colors on the 31st," Parade Director Jeanne Fleming further added.
"A COVID safe "tricky treat" will happen on Halloween night, stay tuned for hints…but just like the child who comes to your door on Halloween, you won't know who or what it is until you see it," the Parade Director further added.
