TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MaintenX is constantly focused on providing unique and valuable insights to their customers and the community. This week, MaintenX Super Service Hero Russell Leffers visited young community members at Sanders Memorial Elementary School to teach them about the importance of preparing for natural disasters and why emergency response services, like the ones provided by MaintenX, are so critical after an extreme weather event.
The 'Community Helpers' program at Sanders Memorial Elementary School brings in local 'heroes' to share the tools, rules and regulations they use to serve the community. Speaking to a group of more than a dozen 1st graders, Leffers explained that natural disasters, like hurricanes, can impact the normal operation of businesses. MaintenX technicians work hard to get businesses like pharmacies, hardware stores, grocery stores and gas stations back in business quickly after natural disasters.
Leffers shared MaintenX's belief that "It's very important to get businesses back up and running as quickly as possible so that the local community serviced by these businesses can get back to normal life." Catering to his younger audience, he also noted that bringing power to businesses is critical "So our mommies and daddies can get us important things like food and medicine. We open up stores so you can come in and get all the supplies you need to get back on track after a natural disaster."
The students had a chance to see a commercial generator up close. Leffers was able to turn the generator on, let the students see the inside of it and even hold some heavy equipment used in disaster repair.
In Florida, where MaintenX is headquartered, natural disasters often take the form of hurricanes. After the destructive 2017 hurricane season, MaintenX wanted to ensure they would be able to assist customers from coast to coast with their disaster preparation and recovery needs. That led MaintenX to invest more than $1 million in equipment, including sandbaggers, refrigeration trucks, commercial generators and fueling tanks.
As hurricane Dorian gains strength and approaches Florida's east coast, Leffers' talk is a great reminder that one of the best defenses against hurricane damage is preparation. MaintenX has helped businesses prepare for dozens of natural disasters over the last decade, which has provided them with invaluable real-world experience. Facility managers can benefit from these lessons learned by downloading MaintenX's preparation guide.
