MaintenX Presents Habitat for Humanity Home to Deserving Family
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) June 17, 2019 -- In front of a crowd of family, friends, and volunteers, MaintenX International helped present the Garcia-Sparling family with their own home. As sponsors of the five-bed, two-bath Habitat for Humanity home, MaintenX team members volunteered more than 1,000 hours over the last two months to take the home from vision to reality.
MaintenX’s VP of Development, Bill Schaphorst, presented the family with keys to their new home. Hamid Garcia and Carol Sparling have four boys between the ages of six and 18, so their new home will provide space, freedom, and consistency for their active family. It has been a dream for Hamid and Carol to have a home that would allow them to put down roots and make wonderful memories as a family.
Nearly a dozen MaintenX team members attended the home dedication on June 13th to celebrate all the hard work it took to complete the build. From prepping the floors for installation to putting finishing touches on the project, MaintenX worked hard to create a safe, beautiful home for the Garcia-Sparling family. The Garcia-Sparling boys called the day “the opportunity of a lifetime.”
“The Tampa-St. Pete area has given us so much, and we kept asking ‘How can we give back,’” said Schaphorst. “This experience has helped us become better as an organization, working together toward a wonderful goal.”
Additionally, MaintenX President Brett Herman presented the family with a hammer, a Habitat tradition that embodies the beliefs of Habitat’s founder, Millard Fuller. Fuller believed that the hammer was a great symbol of the common ground that can be found when building for and building up others.
“When we rolled out this opportunity to our employees, they embraced it 110 percent. We like to call our employees the ‘super team’ because they are superheroes at combatting the issues businesses can face, including broken pipes, HVAC failure and leaky roofs,” said Herman. “We’re so glad we could use a few of our MaintenX superpowers to help create this new home.”
To help support the Garcia-Sparling family’s transition into their new home, MaintenX also gifted them with a $500 gift card to Target and a MaintenX-installed automatic garage door opener.
