Malcovery’s Phil Compton Named CFO of the Year
Birmingham, Alabama (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- Malcovery Security, the leading provider of cyber threat intelligence, announced today that its Chief Financial Officer, Phil Compton, was named the 2014 CFO of the Year, in the “For-Profit Small” category, by the Pittsburgh Business Times. The CFO of the Year Awards recognizes the achievements of Pittsburgh’s top CFOs as exceptional financial stewards for their companies. The business publication presented Compton with the award on November 13, 2014, at a ceremony held at the Omni William Penn Hotel.
“Phil sets himself apart from the typical CFO in many ways, but particularly in the manner in which he adds value beyond his role as a financial custodian and advisor,” said G.T. LaBorde, Chief Executive Officer. “He has a deep understanding of the business, which has helped us minimize risks through the ups and downs experienced by every early-stage company. In his role as CFO for Malcovery Security, Phil exhibits exceptional financial management, sales support and overall leadership skills, which were earned over the course of his career working with several successful startups,” continued LaBorde.
Compton is a founding member of Malcovery Security, a company dedicated to fighting cybercrime, especially in the area of e-mail based phishing and malware threats. He led Malcovery’s efforts to secure investors since the company’s founding and raised $5 million over two rounds of funding. Compton’s ability to think through financial alternatives from a small business and operations perspective played a critical role in Malcovery’s early success, helping to land ten Fortune 500 customers among their base.
During the past 25 years, Compton led Pittsburgh-based companies through all stages of growth and helped raise over $100M in venture funding for companies including Netronome and Co-Manage. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.S. in Accounting from West Virginia University.
