PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) April 16, 2019 -- Mallory Safety and Supply, the largest independent safety distributor in the Western United States, today announced the company has introduced advanced new ISO9001-Certified Telecommunications at-height safety training to the company’s ENSA facilities in North America. The new programs will now be offered at Mallory’s ENSA training facilities in multiple locations, including Mukwonago, WI, Raleigh, NC, Denver, CO, and Amarillo, TX. Mallory’s ENSA training facility is the first and only non-manufacturer -operated ISO 9001-certified training institution under the NATE CTS Tower Climber Fall Protection Training Standard in North America.

The new ENSA telecommunications courses are designed to train industry workers and supervisors on the hazards they or their teams will encounter while working at height, as well as safe use and limitations of industry-specific personal protective and fall rescue equipment. Mallory’s ENSA training also addresses dynamic risk assessments, situational awareness, and decision-making through the adoption of a preventative safety culture.

The new Telecommunications at-height safety training courses are available now from ENSA North America. ENSA’s new telecommunications training courses include:

  • TC0001 Supervised Climber – This one-day introductory training course focuses on telecommunications work at height fall protection and rescue equipment and the need to fully understand and identify the potential task-based hazards.
  • TC1002 Authorized Climber with Rescue – This two-day course provides training for technicians who need to access telecom structures using personal fall protection and fall rescue equipment. During the course, students are taught the hazards of working at height on a telecom tower and how to work safely within this environment.
  • TC2002 Competent Climber with Rescue – The course is designed for technicians with at least 90-days of work at height experience in the telecommunications industry. During the course, students demonstrate their existing ability to assess the hazards of working at height on a telecom tower and to work safely within this environment.
  • TC2003 Competent Climber and Rescuer – Specifically designed for managers and workers who work at-height in telecommunication, are in a position of responsibility, and must be able to respond to emergencies or coordinate and/or implement written rescue procedures for their organization.

The ENSA Telecommunications at-height safety training courses are available now from ENSA North America. Telecommunications operations that are interested in obtaining more information or scheduling training courses for their workers can contact their local Mallory Safety office or regional sales manager. For more information and to download course information, visit http://www.ensa-northamerica.com/training/open-enrollment-calendar/

New Facility Meets the Demands for At-Height Worker Safety
Climbing to work on a telecom structure, where the only access is via a vertical ladder or step pegs, is a demanding activity that requires task-specific safety education and training. The unique demands of the work environment necessitate comprehensive understanding of the safety requirements and incident response strategies and techniques. With the recent expansion in the telecommunications market to 5G, telecoms industry leaders have turned to higher-value training in an effort to reduce risk, incidents and liability, and improve worker safety.

Mallory’s new Mukwonago, WI-based ENSA training facility is the largest at-height safety training facility in North America, and is centrally located near both Milwaukee and Chicago. The new ENSA indoor site uses a training model that follows a “skills-based evolution process.” This evolution model helps students gain confidence and achieve success through both classroom learning and practical skills in a layering approach – where each skill builds upon the previous through repetition and confirmation. Once a knowledge and skills foundation are established, additional practical skills are added, and the students are gradually exposed to increasing complexities of working and rescuing at-height. This unique learning philosophy works to ensure maximum retention, comprehension and application by all students

“Today’s telecommunications employees require an increased level of technical training for the higher, more remote, and more hazardous structures where they work. Previously, the line and antenna workers and requirements were separate – but now, telecoms workers must climb higher and scale more remote broadband cast towers and self-supported structures,” said Tim Loy, President of Mallory Safety and Supply. “In partnership with telecoms companies, Mallory’s ENSA training operation has developed new techniques and training curricula to give these workers and supervisors the hands-on skills and awareness needed to work safely and develop a focused safety culture in their changing environment.”

About the NATE CTS Tower Climber Training Standard
The National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) CTS Tower Climber Fall Protection Training Standard was developed to establish the minimum requirements to which all tower climbers should be trained. The NATE CTS outlines individual standards for varying levels of tower climber expertise: Authorized Climber, Competent Climber, Authorized Rescuer and Competent Rescuer.
