New York, NY (PRWEB) March 29, 2015 -- In the wake of Thursday’s massive explosion, fire and collapse of two buildings in the East Village, along with the subsequent damage to neighboring structures, Manhattan Mini Storage is offering storage at no cost to any displaced residents for up to three months while they recover from the incident and secure new housing.
According to the latest reports from the Associated Press, the event injured 19 – four critically – as well as destroying dozens of residential apartments. Two people who had been inside a restaurant at the blast site remain missing.
“All New Yorkers feel for those impacted by this tragedy,” said Stacy Stuart, an Executive Vice President at Edison Properties, the parent company of Manhattan Mini Storage. “And it hits us close to home, because our 2nd Avenue location is just a few blocks away, so these people are our neighbors. We want to do anything we can to help them during this crisis.”
At a news conference, Mayor de Blasio said that preliminary evidence suggests that the explosion was caused by plumbing and gas work being done at 121 2nd Avenue, near 7th Street.
Manhattan Mini Storage is asking any residents displaced by the explosion who are in need of temporary storage to call the company at 212-STORAGE (212-786-7243), Option 1. Their East Village facility is located at 28 2nd Avenue.
