At the age of fifty-nine, she graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in applied learning development. In January 2001, she started her new job as a career guidance instructor for the State of Texas. In 2006, Evans-Brooks was sixty-five years old and retired. She moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and in September 2006, she started classes at Rhema Bible College. During her first year at Rhema, she completed her fourth semester at ORU. She graduated from Rhema in May 2008 and moved to Normal, Illinois.
