NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Trident Media Group literary agent Mark Gottlieb (https://MarkGottlieb.co) recently landed international bestselling and award-winning author Ronald H. Balson a very good six-figure deal for his tentatively titled novel THE MERCHANT OF WAR. It is a work of historical fiction, rich in detail with well-defined characters in the tradition of the author's previous works: the international bestseller Once We Were Brothers, Karolina's Twins and the National Jewish Book Award-winning The Girl From Berlin. THE MERCHANT OF WAR spans three eras; Nazi-occupied Lublin, Poland, post-war displaced person's camps in Allied-occupied Germany, and twenty years hence in a peaceful Chicago neighborhood.
U.S. Weekly has called Balson "…compelling…" and The Chicago Tribune says he "…tells a great story…gripping…"
The novel sold to St. Martin's Press Editor-in-Chief George Witte by Mark Gottlieb, agent at Trident Media Group in a world rights deal. The book will be releases in print, eBook and audio. It has a planned Fall 2020 publication to be published with other leading titles from the publisher.
Mark Gottlieb commented that he shares his "warmest congratulations with the author and editor on the new book deal." He is "very pleased to see them working together toward a highly successful publication." George Witte expressed that he is thrilled to be working with Balson on the new novel. Ronald Balson similarly voiced that he is pleased to be moving forward with St. Martin's Press in another book deal.
Ronald H. Balson is a Chicago trial attorney, an educator, and writer. His practice has taken him to several international venues. Ron was a finalist for the Harper Lee Award for Legal Fiction and a finalist for the Premio Bancarella Italian Literature Award.
