TOKYO (PRWEB) October 28, 2020
The size of the online shopping and e-commerce market in Japan in the 2018 fiscal year increased by 8.3% over the previous fiscal year to approximately 8.2 trillion JPY, nearly double the growth compared to 2009.*1
In particular, the EC market continues to expand rapidly for both B-to-B and B-to-C markets, and in recent years, the rate of use of e-commerce has increased as a result of an increase in online purchasing behavior due to the decrease in the number of stores and people refraining from going out due to the ongoing pandemic.
While the rate of companies converting to e-commerce is increasing, there is still a risk of information leakage due to cyber-attacks as many of these businesses have opportunities to handle personal information. If a business suffers a cyber-attack, it could result in compensation costs due to the release of personal information, damage to its brand image, and lost sales opportunities.
In addition, with the enactment of the revised Personal Information Protection Act on June 5, 2020, regulations and penalties relating to the protection of personal information have become more stringent, which has led to an increased focus on such measures to prevent the leakage of personal information.
Against this backdrop, in order to prepare for the increasing threat of cyber-attacks, iStyle introduced CSC's cloud-based WAF, "Shadankun". iStyle is a market design company which provides advertising and marketing services and is involved in a wide range of businesses, including "@cosme", Japan's largest cosmetics and beauty website with more than 6.1 million members, the "@cosme SHOPPING", a cosmetics e-commerce website, and the "@cosme STORE", a cosmetics specialty store. The introduction of "Shadankun" will further strengthen the prevention of personal information leakage and protect the brand from cyber threats while providing a safe and secure service for customers.
CSC plans to continue to help more companies mitigate their cybersecurity risks in the future.
