COLUMBIA, Md., Aug. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DeJesus Solutions, a black owned and operated startup with a mission to increase the social capital literacy of one million youth by 2025, has been accepted as the newest member of the Maryland Innovation Center (MIC), Howard County Economic Development Authority's business accelerator.
DeJesus Solutions' Social Capital Builders project works to advance the lifelong economic and social well-being of youth through social capital literacy, analysis and development. It was founded in Howard County in 2018.
The MIC incubator is a 60,000-square-foot facility that houses nearly 30 startups from a variety of industries. In addition to cutting-edge office space, MIC resident businesses gain access to event and conference space, as well as something even more valuable: guidance, insight, and support from MIC's network of partners and entrepreneurs.
"Access to financing and professional expertise is key," notes Ed DeJesus, the company's founder. With less than 2.6% of all venture capital funding going to Black and LatinX founders, DeJesus knows that he faces a serious challenge ahead.
DeJesus knows the pivotal role social capital plays in helping individuals connect to and excel in, careers and life. Despite the best efforts of workforce and educational programs, many students are failing to secure gainful employment equal to their investments in education and credentialing. DeJesus created Social Capital Builders to change that. With the help of the company's CTO, Adam Douglas, Social Capital Builders is ready to launch their Foundations in Social Capital Literacy curriculum and web-based application this fall.
DeJesus Solutions is currently seeking seed funding from socially conscious investors to scale their Foundations in Social Capital Literacy (FISCL) curriculum and web- and app-based platform.
