Maryvale today announced the receipt and implementation of grant funds from Health Net for Seton House, a program for homeless single mothers. Seton House provides safe, temporary housing specifically for single mothers with up to two children, each under the age of 10, who are facing homelessness. Along with individual resident rooms, families have access to a computer room, kitchen, multipurpose room, outdoor play yard, TV room, children's playroom, and up to six months of services including group therapy sessions, individual counseling, and assistance with developing the necessary life skills to achieve long-term employment and permanent housing.
ROSEMEAD, Calif., Dec. 13, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Maryvale today announced the receipt and implementation of grant funds from Health Net for Seton House, a program for homeless single mothers.
Maryvale is Los Angeles County's longest-operating children's charity. Established in 1856 by the Daughters of Charity, Maryvale was created to address the needs of orphaned and abandoned children in Los Angeles and today provides a range of mental health and early childhood education services. With the gifted funds from Health Net, Maryvale extends its mission of community-based assistance via Seton House.
Seton House provides safe, temporary housing specifically for single mothers with up to two children, each under the age of 10, who are facing homelessness. Along with individual resident rooms, families have access to a computer room, kitchen, multipurpose room, outdoor play yard, TV room, children's playroom, and up to six months of services including group therapy sessions, individual counseling, and assistance with developing the necessary life skills to achieve long-term employment and permanent housing.
Health Net was one of the first supporters of Seton House and recognized the importance of the safety and security that the program provides for mothers and children facing homelessness. Last December, they donated $100,000 to Seton House at Maryvale, paying for the renovations on the kitchen and the multipurpose room at Seton House. This gift enabled Maryvale to launch the new program for a much-underserved population.
