Massachusetts Students Laugh, Learn Thanks to Eversource
BOSTON (PRWEB) October 10, 2018 -- Eversource and The National Theatre for Children (NTC) have partnered to educate and inspire Massachusetts students and their families. From October 15 to December 21, professional actors from NTC will visit elementary schools with live performances of The Energized Guyz: Powered Up, sparking conversations on energy efficiency in classrooms throughout Eversource’s service area.
The program will focus on:
• What energy and electricity are
• What energy resources are
• How energy is used unwisely
• How we can use energy efficiently
The live program is a 35-minute assembly about energy efficiency for students in grades 3-5. Two professional actors perform a series of comedic and educational sketches on the topic of conservation. The actors use audience suggestions, participation and improvisation to shape a unique story with every in-school performance.
In addition to live performances, the program includes student playbooks (both print and online versions), teacher guides, infographic posters, and digital games and activities that align with the important concepts outlined in the live shows. Eversource sponsors every aspect of the program, making the performances and materials a cost-free supplement to lessons in science, literacy and the arts. “Live theatre is a great way to educate,” says NTC president and founder Ward Eames. “The show goes beyond reading or other more passive methods of engaging kids. These children are watching a story unfold right before their very eyes, with the two actors playing all sorts of characters. We don’t lose the kids’ attention for a minute, because they get to respond and interact with the show. It really sticks with them.”
