Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 10, 2016 -- On Monday, June 6, a full field of golfers from the worlds of business, entertainment and philanthropy gathered at the Wilshire Country Club in Hancock Park to support United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties (UCPLA) and to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of one of UCPLA’s signature fundraising events: the UCP Golf Classic Tournament. Chaired since its inception by UCPLA Board members Dr. Alan and Mrs. Ellen Kessler, this illustrious tournament has raised nearly $10 million over the past 20 years to support UCPLA’s 40 programs and services. The tournament featured two Hole-in-One opportunities with cars provided by Mercedes Benz dealership Alfano Motorcars, Ltd. of San Luis Obispo. After the tournament, players were joined by friends and spouses for a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions and dinner. The event was a tremendous success, raising $415,000 in support of UCPLA.
The 20th Annual UCP Golf Classic Tournament also honored longtime UCPLA Board member and Los Angeles-area philanthropist Nicholas Roxborough, co-managing partner of Roxborough, Pomerance, Nye & Adreani, LLP (RPNA), the first law firm in the country to specialize in representing employers nationwide in workers’ compensation premium disputes. Roxborough has been a supporter of UCPLA since 1988, joining the Board of Directors in 1990 and holding several leadership positions, most recently as the Chairman of UCPLA’s Board of Governors.
In a recorded video message, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti praised his longtime friend’s dedication to philanthropy and community-based organizations such as UCPLA, stating that Roxborough’s dedication was exemplary of Los Angeles’s spirit of service. UCPLA President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald S. Cohen, who presented Roxborough with his award, likewise lauded Roxborough’s dedication to service and to UCPLA, saying, “If I could make a wish for the world, it would be for peace, for courage, for hope and kindness, for intelligence; and also I’d wish for a few more Nick Roxboroughs.”
UCPLA is grateful to all of the supporters, Board members, staff members, volunteers and sponsors who made the 20th Annual UCP Golf Classic Tournament a success. The Title Sponsors for this year’s tournament are Hancock Park Associates and The Macdonald Foundation. Additional event sponsors included: Premiere Sponsors Aspiriant, and Morgan Adams, Inc.; Diamond Sponsors Dr. Alan and Mrs. Ellen Kessler, The Shapiro Family Charitable Foundation, and RPNA; Platinum Sponsors AETHOS Consulting Group, American Business Bank, Brutzkus Gubner, City National Bank, First Foundation, Raymond James Associates, and US Bank.
