Includes Upcoming How To Pitch Workshop for Freelance Writer Community

Mediabistro, the leading career community in the media industry, announces the launch of an expanded online educational offering.

The new service includes online workshops designed to give participants a multi-session immersive experience that combines skill development, coaching, inspiration, and professional network growth. This includes the upcoming How To Pitch course, which starts on April 21.

The How To Pitch course is designed to help freelance writers and content creators access new freelance work opportunities and advance their careers. The program features online sessions led by experienced professionals including: copywriter, editor, and writing teacher Dana Sitar; author and National Magazine Award finalist Steve Friedman; lifestyle writer, on-air host, and ex-marketer Leila Najafi; and writer and freelance business coach Jennifer Billock. Participants will also receive feedback from a program coach, and have the opportunity to develop pitching strategies in small groups.

The new workshop format marks the expansion into a la carte online courses for Mediabistro, in addition to the courses and other content exclusively available under the company’s MBU membership subscription.

“One of our primary goals for 2021 is to deliver a more flexible education model to our community,” said Chris Johnson, CEO of Mediabistro. “We’re expecting to release online courses under several new formats this year.”

Education and events have long been a significant part of the Mediabistro offering to its community. The current expansion marks the company’s effort to deliver more online content and networking opportunities, made more critical by the current restrictions to in-person gatherings.
