Mediaplanet Partners Up with NORD, Global Genes, Clay Matthews and More to Help Raise Awareness for Rare Diseases
NEW YORK (PRWEB) September 14, 2018 -- Today, Mediaplanet announces the launch of this September’s edition of “Rare Diseases." This campaign will showcase the innovative work being done within rare diseases research, diagnostics, and will highlight what industry experts and patients see as potential future therapies for those living with rare diseases.
Clay Matthews, Super Bowl-winning linebacker for the Green Packers, is the cover story of the print edition. Matthews is a long-term supporter of those who battle a rare disease, Duchenne, and he works closely with CureDuchenne to raise awareness for this disease that effects 15,000 American boys. Matthews hopes to inspire others with platforms like his to use their power to give back, and he hopes to build on his own progress that he’s already helped to create.
“When I joined forces with CureDuchenne, this was a relatively unknown disease” says Matthews. But we’re at the point now where there are human clinical trials, and the symptoms of this disease are being checked.”
Matthews has even started his own initiatives within the NFL — namely, the “My Cleats, My Cause” campaign, where he wore two cleats customize-made with submitted designs by boys with Duchenne. “They were loud, and that’s what I liked about them,” he says. “A lot of people were asking questions.”
