School Health and Safety has become a huge priority as district administrators aim to keep their schools equipped for in-person learning to prevent further learning loss. The 2020-21 batch of K-12 students around the world is currently projected to miss at least 2-years’ worth of academic skills. This number is even steeper for low-income students who have been disproportionately affected by the homework gap which has now become a full-fledged learning gap. Within the first 100 days of his presidency, President Elect Biden aims to reopen the majority of schools and it is important that districts, students and parents have the proper infrastructure in place to prioritize student’s physical and emotional well-being. Schools need to innovate and implement modifications seamlessly to avoid going back to remote schooling which further divides the learning and accessibility gap.
