Jose’s Hands to Host The World’s First Red Carpet Medical Mission Awards in Miami Beach
Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 09, 2013 -- Jose’s Hands, a Miami based non-profit organization supporting medical mission trips to help underserved areas, announced that it will be hosting the 1st Annual MEDDY Awards, the first ever red carpet award show to be held in the medical missions field, presented by PhilanTropic Lifestyle, with NBC 6 reporter Kelly Blanco. The event honoring medical mission organizations, doctors, nurses and student associations involved in various medical missions, will take place at Hyde Beach, located in the prestigious SLS Hotel South Beach, on October 18, 8:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. A Date a Doctor or Nurse Auction and a Sexy Scrubs Fashion Show will follow the official Award Ceremony. Tickets to the function can be purchased online, at http://www.joseshands.org/weekend.
Jose’s Hands was established by Executive Director Alex Miranda, to perpetuate the values and legacy of his late brother, José Jamil Miranda. José was a U.S. Army Major and orthopedic surgeon who dreamed of bringing to life a medical mission project before he suddenly passed away in October of 2008.
“Medical missions bring hope to three billion people throughout the world. We can create even bigger impact by engaging willing, knowledgeable, young individuals in programs that carry the flag of cure and hope to those in need,” stated Miranda.
Inaugurating a new era for non-profit organizations in the Miami area, the 1st Annual MEDDY Awards is being designed to engage the local young demographic in philanthropic activities. To reach that energetic audience, Jose’s Hands is partnering with PhilanTropic Lifestyle through veteran charity event planner Jonathan Babicka, who has implemented successful functions such as the award-winning “Charity Funkshion” for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
“The 1st Annual MEDDY Awards is an unprecedented interactive celebration designed to commemorate our real-life heroes,” said Babicka, founder of PhilanTropic Lifestyle. “These amazing individuals have significantly contributed to admirable causes - it is an honor to roll out a red carpet for them.”
Supported by generous donations, Jose’s Hands has, just in the past two years since its inception, provided grants to a total of 12 medical students, in three group trips that have significantly impacted communities in countries such as Dominican Republic and Peru.
