Medical Spa Skin and Laser Center to Participate in Local Charity Event
Mequon, WI (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- In May, the Quintessa Medical Spa will be a part of the Ann’s Hope Block Melanoma 5k Run and 3k Walk in Milwaukee. All money raised during the annual event will benefit local melanoma research. This year, the foundation is hoping to break the Guinness Book of World Record for the most people applying sunscreen at one time.
To educate participants on the prevention of sun damage, Quintessa will have a booth set up at the Block Melanoma event. Providers will be on hand to answer questions on the early detection of skin cancer and skin care. The practice will share the specific treatments offered at their med spa.
Melanoma is the fastest growing cancer in the United States. The disease is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 25 and 30. It is estimated that more than 77,000 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed this year.
Ann’s Hope Foundation was founded by Anne Frentzel and Ann Harrington in 2005. The group hosts a variety of annual events designed to raise funds for skin cancer research, early detection, and prevention education. Since it was started, Ann’s Hope Foundation has donated more than $1 million for melanoma research and education in Wisconsin.
Dr. Andrew Campbell is a longtime proponent for skin cancer awareness. He explains, “Everyday in our medical spa we see the damaging effects of the sun on our patient’s skin. We are here to support the awareness, and prevention of Melanoma in our Milwaukee communities.” Together with his staff, Dr. Campbell promotes the benefits of early sin cancer detection.
This year’s walk/run will be held Sunday, May 18 at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Online registration is still available; ‘day of’ registration begins at 6:45am that morning.
