MediTelecare Introduces New Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) Services
MediTelecare is expanding a new service offering, BHI, which involves ongoing monitoring of the patient and external detailed communication with the other care providers, staff nurses, primary caregivers, and all other members of the care team.
MIDDLETOWN, Conn., July 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MediTelecare, a Connecticut based telehealth behavioral services provider, has introduced a newly added service known as Behavioral Health Integration (BHI). MediTelecare psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and psychologists provide behavioral health services to approximately 20,000 patients in over 250 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) across 14 states. MediTelecare's main focus is to provide optimal medication management services for psychiatric patients with the goal of medication reduction when possible through an integrated care model with non-pharmacologic psychotherapy and other behavioral assessments.
MediTelecare is expanding a new service offering, BHI, which involves ongoing monitoring of the patient and external detailed communication with the other care providers, staff nurses, primary caregivers, and all other members of the care team. This has shown to optimize positive outcomes for the patient. The intent of BHI services is to reduce the risk of hospitalizations, behavioral health condition exacerbations, and other poor outcomes such as falls and adverse medication side effects. The MediTelecare team of providers work together to gather important information about the patient's behavioral health and overall health state — this is then used to develop an in-depth monthly behavioral health care plan.
Dr. Jessica Badichek, PharmD, Director of Clinical Informatics and the BHI project leader says, "We are proud to be one of the first national companies and the only telemedicine provider to bring this exciting new BHI service to our facility partners. Since 2016, CMS has established payment systems for chronic care management with behavioral integration to foster improved overall patient outcomes. BHI allows us to be proactive with patient care instead of reactive and can help avoid typical care failures in SNFs nationwide. We believe we are uniquely positioned to provide this higher standard of care to our patients who are residents in skilled nursing facilities. Furthermore, we believe BHI will help our client SNFs improve their quality ratings."
BHI is covered by Medicare and is offered to facilities at no additional costs. The patient's monthly behavioral health care plan is available to all medical practitioners caring for the patient through the proprietary MediTelecare Clinical Cloud Repository.
