Completion of the certification curriculum demonstrates that individuals have completed the updated 40-hour training requirement and competency standards established by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). The RBT certification paves the way for payer reimbursement and consistency of care.
This is the first certification program offered within MedTrainer's healthcare learning management system (LMS). It marks the start of a broader effort to help healthcare organizations build credentialed talent from within, using the same platform they already rely on for compliance training.

Built to the New BACB Standard
MedTrainer's RBT certification program aligns with the BACB's updated standards that took effect on January 1, 2026. This closes the gap for healthcare organizations still relying on outdated or in-house training that does not reflect the latest standards.
Updated 40-Hour Training Requirement
MedTrainer offers 40 one-hour courses that align with the newly standardized curriculum that now focuses on instructional hours per content area, rather than the previous task list-based training. The updated curriculum covers behavior-change interventions, and MedTrainer includes courses like Discrete-Trial Teaching (DTT) and Naturalistic Teaching (NET). Additional courses include Foundations of Applied Behavior Analysis, Crisis and Emergency Procedures, and Core Principles of Ethics in Behavioral Practice. Candidates can complete the self-paced training per BACB requirements, which typically takes between 5-180 days.
Qualified Trainer
BACB tightened the qualifications, requiring the lead trainer to hold BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) or BCaBA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst) credentials. MedTrainer's courses are authored/reviewed by a BCBA-certified MedTrainer training and learning expert. She has extensive experience in applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral health supervision, clinical quality assurance, treatment planning, staff development, utilization review, and behavioral health leadership.
Certificate Upon Completion
Per BACB updated requirements, MedTrainer includes the following training certificate approval statement: This training program is designed to meet the 2026 training eligibility requirement for RBT certification. The training is offered independent of the BACB. With this certificate, candidates can complete the updated RBT initial competency assessment, become certified, enroll with payers, and begin billing for services.
