Meet the "Mompreneurs" Behind Meli's Monster Cookies Which Just Hit Walmart Stores Nationwide

When it comes to self-made success stories, Melissa Blue and Melissa Mehall of Meli’s Monster Cookies are the “mompreneurs” to watch in 2019. These hard-working moms -- each with three kids under the age of 14 -- established a craveable cookie brand that hit 4,000 Walmart shelves nationwide in February with easy-to-make dry mixes.

When it comes to self-made success stories, Melissa Blue and Melissa Mehall of Meli’s Monster Cookies are the “mompreneurs” to watch in 2019. These hard-working moms -- each with three kids under the age of 14 -- established a craveable cookie brand that hit 4,000 Walmart shelves nationwide in February with easy-to-make dry mixes.

"Melissa and I are thrilled to have our cookies nationwide! Our initial dream was to make Meli's available to everyone and we are so excited to see that vision come to fruition," said Blue.

"The road to retail shelf placement is not easy and takes a lot of hard work and tenacity. The biggest blessing has been and continues to be working with my best friend."

Friends for over 30 years, the Melissas’ cookie business started with a family recipe passed down from Blue's mother-in-law that has been enjoyed and loved for over 40 years.

The “aha” moment was triggered when a close family member developed a gluten intolerance. While baking monster cookies, it dawned on the Meli’s that this delicious cookie was naturally gluten-free which was the catalyst to share Meli’s Monster Cookies with the world.

Skipping out on the flour but not the flavor, Meli’s Monster Cookies are gluten-free and don’t contain any gluten substitutes like other bland gluten-free cookies. What you will taste is a delicious, moist and chewy cookie you won’t believe came out of your oven instead of a bakery.

Easy to make in four steps, each mix bakes approximately sixteen delicious cookies within twelve minutes. The first two ingredients are certified gluten-free rolled oats and peanut butter instead of flour and sugar, so Meli’s cookies are higher in fiber and protein while satisfying your sweet tooth. "We can say with confidence, it’s the best cookie you will ever eat and oh, by the way, it's gluten-free,” said Mehall.

The Dry Mixes come in three varieties:

Original: Gluten-free rolled oats, natural crunchy peanut butter, natural chocolate chips, plain and peanut butter M&Ms

Cashewlicious: Gluten-free rolled oats, natural crunchy cashew butter, natural dark chocolate chips, and dried cherries

Choco-LOT: Gluten-free rolled oats, natural chocolate chunks, natural white chocolate chips, natural peanut butter.

What's next for these powerhouse moms?

"As we are rolling out our brand to retailers nationally, we are so excited to put our heart into doing something new to recognize all those awesome moms that are working so hard to achieve that balance," said Mehall. "So coming soon we are going to be featuring the “Monster Moms” Club (moms out there doing so much and rocking it) we want to recognize all of them. So keep your eyes out for Meil's Monster Moms Club! We are going to a special surprise to recognize them around Mother’s Day!"

About the Meli’s: Friends for over 30 years, Melissa Blue and Melissa Mehall grew up in Waco, Texas together. They both now live in Central Texas and love working together on Meli’s Monster Cookies. Blue is a former gemologist and owner of Blue Diamonds for 5 years. Mehall is a former transactional attorney.
