Sapphire windows that are optically clear and resistant to fast moving dirt, sand, water and chemicals to protect vision systems can be fabricated to precise OEM specifications by Meller Optics, Inc.

Featuring Mohs 9 hardness which is second only to diamond, these windows are ideally suited for use as protective front surface optics on all types of RPAs, UAVs, and drones.

Meller Optics, Inc. has introduced custom fabricated sapphire windows that are optically clear and resistant to fast moving dirt, sand, water and chemicals to protect vision systems.

Meller Sapphire Windows transmit from the UV through 4.7 microns and are available in sizes up to 10” dia., with varying wall thicknesses, stepped edges, elliptical edge shaping and holes, slots, and wedges for mounting. Featuring Mohs 9 hardness which is second only to diamond, these windows can withstand fast moving dirt, sand, and salt water, and can include multi-spectral antireflective coatings to meet salt fog requirements.

Ideally suited for use as protective front surface optics on all types of RPAs, UAVs, and drones, Meller Sapphire Windows can be fabricated with flatness held to 1/10th wave in the visible and less than 2 arc sec. in/in. parallelism. Surface finishes can be held from 60-40 to 40-20 scratch-dig, depending upon configuration.
