Meller Optics, Inc. has introduced a line of custom fabricated sapphire optics which are chemically inert and operate over a wide spectrum for use in blood gas monitors, centrifuges, and other instruments.
Meller Sapphire Lenses & Windows are optically clear, chemically inert, and transmit from the UV to 4.7 microns; up to 85% uncoated and can be coated for better than 99% transmission. Featuring Mohs 9 hardness which is second only to diamond, they can be supplied as lenses or windows, flat and stepped, concave or convex, and round or square, with mounting holes and slots.
Manufactured to specification, Meller Sapphire Lenses & Windows can be fabricated in sizes from 0.25” to 10” dia. and 0.5 mm to 1” thick with scribed directional arrow edge treatments. Exhibiting flatness to 1/10th wave, parallelism to 2 arc-sec., and surface finishes to less than 0.5 nm, they are suited for glass-to-metal sealing or brazing into Kovar® sleeves.
Meller Sapphire Lenses & Windows are priced according to configuration and quantity. Literature and price quotations are available upon request.
