FREDERICK, Md., Sept. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Mental Health Association of Frederick County's (MHA) Board of Directors announces the appointment of new board member, Tricia Griffis.
Tricia is the Director of Internal Audit for Frederick County Government which includes an internal audit role for not only the Government entity but also Frederick County Public Schools and Frederick Community College. She is involved with the Maryland Association of CPA's Business Learning Institute as a CPE instructor and a Mentor in the MACPA Mentoring Program. She also volunteers as an instructor for the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association.
Tricia is a graduate of Salisbury University with degrees in both Accounting and Business Administration focusing on Business Management. She has over 18 years of experience in the audit and attest field. Tricia spent 13 years working with CohnReznick as a Senior Manager and leader in her fields of expertise which included state and local government, affordable housing, real estate, development, and construction. There she was also a leader in staff development and guidance as well as an internal CPE instructor.
Tricia acknowledges the importance of individual mental health and its effect on the community. "Without strong mental health we cannot be a strong community. Mental Health is the back bone of an individual's being and purpose, and it drives our ability to be strong for ourselves and those around us. I believe technology has contributed to the deterioration of mental health in our country and it is time to put a spotlight on it, creating an expanding awareness of issues and the tools we can access to strengthen it." She says. Tricia has worked with MHA's Catoctin Affair committee since 2014, taking on the role of Co-Chair for the 2019 event.
MHA is delighted to welcome Tricia to the Board. She has been an invaluable member of the Catoctin Affair committee for many years working on virtually every aspect of MHA's largest fundraiser. Tricia brings her passion for making mental health services accessible to everyone in our community, combined with her financial acumen and unwavering enthusiasm.
Born and raised in Frederick County, Tricia graduated from Linganore High School where she was on the indoor and outdoor state champion track teams, held four team state champion titles, and was part of the 2004 Hall of Fame team. She is a former member of the Board of Directors with the Interfaith Housing Alliance, and was a mentor with Woman to Woman Mentoring. Tricia is a graduate of Leadership Frederick County and is currently serving on the Leadership Frederick County Council. She is raising two children who are very active in the Frederick sports scene and she enjoys supporting their efforts.
The Mental Health Association of Frederick County has served the community as a private, non-profit organization since 1965. MHA strives to build a strong foundation of emotional wellness for our whole community by preparing resilient children, securing vulnerable families and standing with people to face crises together.
