VRComfort Labs, a new business unit of CMTLabs, Inc. stated a version of the Comfort Vue™ VR stationary boundary platform developed for the Meta Quest 2 is in development which can convert a wheelchair into a VR mobility immersion system.
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., June 1, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VRComfort Labs, a new business unit of CMTLabs, Inc. stated a version of the Comfort Vue™ VR stationary boundary platform developed for the Meta Quest 2 is in development which can convert a wheelchair into a VR mobility immersion system.
VRComfort Labs stated the new platform is being developed specifically for the over 4 million potential users in the U.S. who depend on using a wheelchair for mobility. VRComfort Labs believes mobility disabled consumers are disregarded by mainstream VR product manufacturers and content creators because of the relatively low TAM. Wheelchair manufacturers are interested in selling wheelchairs, not VR headsets. By utilizing the Comfort Vue™ system, the two separate industry products can be integrated together to create an entirely new product and value proposition by a 3rd party, VRComfort Labs. The goal is to have the wheelchair no longer be viewed as a limitation, but instead, a platform providing unlimited mobility to anywhere on the planet and beyond.
VRComfort Labs further stated Quest 2 can be integrated without modifications to the headset or wheelchair to provide immersive virtual mobility functionality. The system will also provide the same primary functionality features as the mainstream VRComfort Vue™. Users will not be required to strap on the headset and head movement related motion sickness is eliminated. The user will be able to travel alone or connect with a group to visit actual historic locations such Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat, Stonehenge, Pyramids of Giza, Taj Mahal, and many others. Tours of cities and museums along with live event attendance will also be available. If the user travels or attends an event in a group, everyone will be able talk to and hear each other. By having the ability to verbally interact, it will create a more personal, realistic, and engaging experience for the participants. This capability is also a valuable functionally feature of the VR/Metaverse Comfort Vue™ virtual travel platform intended for use by older adults and senior citizens. New friendships and travel companion groups can be established globally, something often not possible even without mobility limitations.
