Miami High School Junior Launches Ally's Animal Project Non-profit to Feed Pets Affected by COVID-19 Pandemic
Charity Already Has Delivered Six Months of Pet Food to 100 Families in 10 States So Those Hit Hard by the Pandemic Can Keep Their Pets
MIAMI, Aug. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ally's Animal Project, created by high school junior Alyssa Gold to help care for pets of families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, has been formally launched and registered as a 501-C3 non-profit organization. With the formal launch of Ally's Animal Project as a nonprofit, all donations made to feed animals owned by those who are financially straggling during the pandemic are tax exempt.
Ally has been an animal advocate for some time, having fostered a number of cats and dogs and accumulated more than 1,000 hours of service working with Miami Dade Animal Services. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Ally saw more pet owners who had lost their jobs or could no longer afford pet food surrendering their pets to the shelter. Recognizing that the pandemic is creating a national crisis for pet owners that could lead to more homeless and abandoned pets, Ally's Animal Project has started to deliver pet food to help struggling pet owners. The non-profit already has sent a six-month supply of pet food to more than 100 families in 10 states.
To raise funds, Ally's Animal Project accepts tax-exempt donations online at http://www.allysanimalproject.org. The organization also sells handmade bracelets and jewelry with 100 percent of the proceeds going to feed pets in need. Those seeking assistance also can register online – all recipients are carefully screened before they can receive assistance with pet food.

In addition to fostering, Alyssa has spearheaded campaigns to raise money for the animal victims of Hurricane Dorian and created a drive to collect shampoo and towels for Miami Dade Animal Services when they experienced a critical shortage.

Formed in 2017 by high school student Alyssa Gold, Ally's Animal Project grew from Ally's love of animals and her compassion for people. She has fostered a number of dogs and cats and through her volunteer work at Miami Dade Animal Services, including Bruno, a dog with a torn Achilles tendon who was going to lose his leg. After seeing Bruno through a successful surgery and recovery to save his leg, Ally recognized that there were so many other animals like Bruno in need of extra help.
